The type and quantity of added reagents, dosing point and dosing method are specified in flotation process. The reagent system has a great influence on flotation index. There are many kinds of flotation reagents added to pulp in the flotation process. The interaction between them and the original components in pulp and the interaction between them are very complex and restrict each other. Choosing a better reagent system can make these interactions reach a certain balance in favor of flotation. If the reagent is not added properly, the balance will be broken, and the whole process will be in a state of disadvantageous to mineral separation.
The type and quantity of reagents must be determined by flotation test, and then verified under industrial conditions. When the amount of collector and frother increases within a certain limit, the flotation speed can be increased and better flotation index can be obtained; if the dosage is too much, the recovery rate and concentrate quality will be reduced. The depressant and activator should also be appropriate, excessive or insufficient will cause the flotation index to decrease.
The dosing point has a great relationship with the effectiveness of the medicine. PH regulator and inhibitor are mostly added into the mill. The refractory collector can also be added to the mill. Agents that can counteract each other should be added separately. Generally, the second agent can only be added after the former one is fully used.
The method of dosing can be divided into one-time addition and batch addition. Once added, the concentration of the agent is higher locally, the action intensity is large, and the addition is convenient, so it is often used. The concentration of reagents along the flotation line can be kept basically the same by adding in batches or point by point. For pesticides that are easily taken away by foam, reagents that are easy to react in pulp and medicaments requiring strict control should be added in batches. The same kind of medicament has different dosage and effect with different methods of use. This is especially true for agents with low or insoluble solubility in water. Such as neutral oil, in the water is a relatively thick drop, without adjustment measures, not only the effect is not good, but also the dosage is increased. In order to improve the efficacy, the following measures can be taken:
(1) Some insoluble agents can be dissolved in special solvents first;
(2) The insoluble solid medicament can be used as emulsion;
(3) Saponification is a common method for fatty acid collectors;
(4) After emulsification, fatty acids and diesel oil can increase their dispersion in pulp and improve their utility;
(5) Electrochemical treatment and aerosol method can also be used to strengthen the effect of chemicals. For collectors, frothing agents, inhibitors and flocculants, the mixed use of reagents with different structures in proportion is often better than using any of them alone. The mixed use of reagents has been widely adopted in the flotation process of various minerals.
